Insurance and billing
Our providers accept most insurance plans, HMOs and PPOs, including Medicare and Medicaid. The office will gladly file your insurance for you; however, we do request your portion (co-payment, deductible, or co-insurance) be paid at the time services are rendered. These payments may be made by cash, check and credit card.
The Affordable Care Act
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) offers the promise of better access to healthcare to millions of Americans. It will help many more people get the health care insurance they need to better access care. While the ACA isn’t perfect, it does offer our country and our community a historic opportunity to improve the health of our families, friends and neighbors.

One of our roles as a healthcare provider is to help make our communities and our country stronger by providing education. Here are the key facts you need to know:
- Beginning Jan. 1, 2014, the Affordable Care Act requires everyone to have health insurance. The goal is to make coverage more accessible and affordable for those who do not currently have health insurance or who have limited coverage.
- There are new, affordable insurance options available for people without insurance.
- All insurance plans will have to cover doctor visits, hospitalizations, maternity care, emergency room care, and prescriptions.
- Financial help is available so you can find a plan that fits your budget.
- All insurance plans will have to show the costs and what is covered in simple language with no fine print.
- Insurance plans can’t deny you for a pre-existing condition.
- Help will be available online, by phone, and in person to find the plan that works best for you. Plus there’s support for every language that’s spoken in our community.
The Health Insurance Marketplace Opens October 1
Enrollment for health insurance begins on Oct. 1, 2013. Below is more information to help you better understand and make the most of these new benefits. To get insurance through the new health insurance Marketplace, you’ll go to www.HealthCare.gov. Here are some other links that might be helpful to you.

- If you have questions, you can call 1-800-318-2596. Resources are available in many different languages.
Here’s a list of the documents you’ll need to enroll:
- Social Security numbers (or document numbers for legal immigrants
- Birth dates
- Pay stubs, W-2 forms, or “Wage and Tax Statements”
- Policy numbers for any current health insurance
- Information about any health insurance you or your family could get from your jobs

Discounts and subsidies are available
If you aren’t eligible for Medicare, Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program and aren’t offered affordable coverage through your employer, you may be eligible for discounts or subsidized coverage. If you aren’t yet ready yet to log-on and create your official account in the healthcare Marketplace, which is where you’ll learn what you qualify for, you can get a rough estimate of your potential costs and savings by using the Kaiser Family Foundation calculator.
Find local help
In all states, just as in our community, there are people trained and certified to help you understand your health coverage options and enroll in a plan. They will be known by different names, depending on who provides the service and where they are located. All will provide similar kinds of help:
- Application assisters
- Certified application counselors
- Government agencies, such as State Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) Offices
Insurance agents and brokers can also help you with your application and choices.
Visit LocalHelp.HealthCare.gov to find help in our area. You can search by city and state or zip code to see a list of local organizations with contact information, office hours, and types of help offered, such as non-English language support, Medicaid or CHIP, and Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP). These organizations are available now to assist you in finding the kind of help that works for you.
